Buyer – Spare Parts & Consumables (Oil & Gas)



Location: Onshore Base (Supporting Offshore Operations)



Job Purpose



The Buyer – Spare Parts & Consumables is responsible for the strategic and operational procurement of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, marine, drilling, and general consumable materials required to support offshore drilling operations. The role ensures that critical spare parts and consumables are procured cost-effectively, delivered on time, and comply with company specifications, client requirements, and industry standards, thereby ensuring uninterrupted offshore operations.

The position works closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, Logistics, Finance, Vendors, and Offshore Operations to maintain inventory availability while optimising procurement costs and supplier performance.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS Level 4 or higher) is preferred.
  • ERP procurement system training (SAP MM, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent) is advantageous.


Experience



  • Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement or purchasing.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience purchasing spare parts and consumables within the Oil & Gas, offshore drilling, marine, mining, heavy engineering, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience sourcing OEM and aftermarket spare parts.
  • Experience with inventory management principles.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations and contract administration.
  • Experience with ERP procurement systems.


Technical Knowledge



  • Procurement and sourcing best practices.
