Provider Networks Liaison Specialist (Pharmacy)

Job Description:

The Provider Network Liaison Specialist serves as the key link between our client, its contracted pharmacy network providers, and client medical funds. The role is responsible for building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with healthcare providers and key stakeholders to ensure network compliance, operational efficiency, and the sustainability of the schemes under administration.

The Liaison Specialist is also responsible for analysing and monitoring provider utilisation patterns to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for behavioural change and cost optimisation. In addition, the Liaison Specialist supports the development and expansion of existing and new provider networks as determined by our client and the medical funds under administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with pharmacy network providers through regular provider visits, in line with the schedule approved by the GM: Key Accounts and Business Relations.
  • Identify and address non-compliance by analysing provider claiming patterns and profiles, and by engaging directly with providers to resolve identified issues.
  • Build and expand existing and new provider networks as determined by our client.
  • Analyse and monitor provider utilisation data to identify trends and implement corrective or improvement initiatives that promote appropriate and cost-effective care.
  • Provide accurate information and guidance to network providers on matters relating to network benefits, policies, and operational processes.
  • Promote our client's image and reputation through professional, solution-oriented engagements with network providers and their staff.
  • Monitor the quality of care and service provided to members by network providers and address any areas of concern.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to queries from providers and both internal and external stakeholders via email, telephone, or in person.
  • Identify recurring issues and potential trends affecting network providers and recommend effective interventions and process improvements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all interactions, visits, and actions taken, maintaining comprehensive records for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Submit accurate daily productivity and activity reports to the GM: Key Accounts and Business Relations.
  • Investigate cases of high utilisation to determine underlying causes and recommend provider-specific interventions to reduce unnecessary costs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12: Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC).
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a related healthcare field.
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA) or the relevant Namibian professional regulatory body, where applicable.
  • 3–5 years' experience in Provider Network Management, Managed Healthcare, Medical Scheme Administration, or a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) environment.
  • Proven experience in visiting, consulting with, and managing relationships with healthcare providers on behalf of an organisation.
  • Relevant healthcare industry experience, including exposure to a medical fund or medical scheme environment.
  • Experience in claims processing, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), and knowledge of medical fund legislation will be an added advantage.

Language Requirements

  • English is the primary business language, with the ability to speak, read, write, spell, and comprehend it proficiently.
  • All written and verbal communication must be conducted in a professional manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook (Email).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Internet Explorer/Internet browsing.
  • Prior knowledge or experience with medical scheme administration systems.
  • Understanding of medical aid claims and/or managed care systems will be an added advantage.
